100 Years of The Oriental Ceramic Society

2021 Centenary

As our centenary year continues, the Council of the Oriental Ceramic Society looks forward to our special centenary exhibition opening on October 15, 2021. Please look to the right for a few highlights of the exquisite objects that visitors will be able to see in person at the exhibition.

Centenary Exhibition

Our centenary exhibition, Collectors, Curators, Connoisseurs: A Century of The Oriental Ceramic Society, opens on 15 October through 11 December in the Brunei Gallery at School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in London.

R.C. Hills Gold Medal Lecture

Peter Lam, Honorary Fellow,  Institute of Chinese Studies, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, is the 2021 winner of  the R.C. Hills Gold Medal, the most prestigious award granted by the OCS, given to a lifelong scholar who has made a major contribution to the field of Asian art. His lecture, The Eumorfopoulos Phoenix-head Ewer Revisited, will be delivered on October 12, 2021. The lecture will be online beginning at 5:30pm BST.

Centenary Study Day

Centenary Study Day: The History of the Oriental Ceramic Society will be held in London on Saturday, November 13th. It will be an in-person event in the Brunei Gallery Lecture Theatre at SOAS.

The date has been specially chosen to follow Asian Art in London 2021.  The cost will be £25 for OCS members and £35 for non-members.  Booking is essential.  Click here to book your place.

Centenary Exhibition Catalogue

Our Centenary Exhibition catalogue, Collectors, Curators, Connoisseurs: A Century of The Oriental Ceramic Society, has now been published to wide acclaim. OCS Centenary Presentations

As part of our centenary celebrations, the council of the OCS has commissioned a series of short videos by collectors and experts about objects lent to our special centenary exhibition, Collectors, Curators, Connoisseurs: A Century of The Oriental Ceramic Society. Timed tickets are required by all visitors.

The free timed tickets can be booked through the Brunei Gallery online booking system, up to 7 days in advance and a minimum of twelve hours before you visit.
