Handling Session of Yaozhou Wares with Professor Brian M. Salzberg

We are delighted to offer a special event for OCS members in the USA. OCS Council Member Professor Brian M. Salzberg will host an exclusive handling session of Yaozhou wares at his private residence in Philadelphia, USA.

Brian M. Salzberg is Professor Emeritus of Neuroscience and of Physiology at the University of Pennsylvania’s Perelman School of Medicine. Salzberg received his Ph.D. in Physics from Harvard and was elected a Fellow of the American Physical Society, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the Optical Society of America. He sits on the Trustees Committee for Asian Art of the Philadelphia Museum of Art and he is a collector of pre-Ming Chinese ceramics.

The Salzberg Collection consists of more than 500 pieces of early Chinese ceramics, dating primarily from the Sui through Jin Dynasties. Approximately 70 pieces are from the Yaozhou kilns in Shaanxi Province. Prof. Salzberg has selected 15 examples of Yaozhou ware, ranging from the Tang through Jin Dynasties, that illustrate the range and elegance of this kiln’s output.
