In June 2019 we took a four day tour to North East England. During our first days, we visited the Burrell Collection at the Berwick Museum, Alnwick Castle and two National Trust properties, Cragside, the first house powered by hydroelectricity, and Wallington, which hosts a huge collection of Chinese ceramics including a Ming dynasty plate, formerly in the collection of the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. Later, we toured the Bowes Museum and Raby Castle’s Chinese porcelain pagodas dating to the Qianlong period. We wrapped up our visit with a stop at the Durham Oriental Museum and Durham Cathedral.
